Jim at Dystel and Goderich Literary Management is having a contest. Submit the first line of your story and the winner will have their complete manuscript considered. This is an amazing prize! You don't even have to query. Just pitch the first line of your story and you could be considered!
Here's the link:http://dglm.blogspot.com/2010/04/first-lines-contest.html#comments
P.S. Yes I entered, even though my manuscript isn't done (I of course told him that!). So if you want a sneak peek, just search the comments for 'Shelley Watters' and you too can read the first line of my manuscript. I think another month and this puppy will be ready for submission to my A list agents.

The Death of a Vampire
It seems like all of the literary agents that I follow are saying that the 'vampire' is a dying trend. Twilight brought it in and now everyone is doing it, and it's on it's way out. Do you feel that the vampire trend is dying or are you still dying for the next amazing vampire story? Personally I LOVE vampire stories, have since I was a kid (um, hello Anne Rice!!) and still do. While I think the 'trend' might be fading, I think us die hard vampire lovers will always love a good vampire story regardless of what the current trend is.
