A Writers Promise

I promise to be a mom first and a writer second.

I promise to devote one hundred percent of myself to whatever I'm doing, be it changing a poopy diaper or writing a novel.

I promise to not let the rejections get me down.

I promise to remember that I write because I love writing and these stories want to be told, not because I want to be published.

I promise to never forget that my family loves me regardless of whether or not they can buy a book written by me at Barnes and Noble.

I promise to remember that I always have an audience for my writing, even if it is just my own family and friends.

I promise to let my characters speak for themselves, with their own voice and ideas.

I promise to not allow myself to forget who I am in all of this chaos.

I promise to write every day.
