Made of Awesome Contest

The response was so fantastic from my last agent-judged contest that I thought I'd do another. The Epic contest with Suzie Townsend resulted in five query critiques (from me), one grand-prize full ms request, and I later recieved reports that five of the honorable mentions recieved full requests from her as well!

So here's the new contest. It'll be similar to my Twitter Pitch contest with the critique round and the judging round. But instead of entering a twitter pitch, we're doing a first page contest.

And who, might you ask, is the judge?

Judith Engracia of Liza Dawson and Associates!

Judith is a literary assistant at Liza Dawson Associates, handling audio rights and digital publishing. She graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with a B.A. in English and History on a full presidential scholarship. She is currently building her client list and looking for all types of fiction, especially middle grade, young adult, urban fantasy, steampunk, and paranormal romance. When she's not reading, she is either training for her next martial arts test or causing mischief with her Siberian Husky, Grendel.

Judith is just building her own client list, which means she's got her eye out for some amazing manuscripts! And I know you guys have a ton of talent, so hopefully she'll find some really great work she can't resist.

So here's how the contest will work:
  1. Sign up on the link below.
  2. On May 28th, post your title, genre, word count and the first 250 words on your blog for critique.
  3. From May 28th through May 30th, hop around to the other contestant's blogs and critique their first 250 words.
  4. On May 31st, come back to my blog and post your final entry on my dedicated contest entry blog post. Be sure to include:
    1. Your email address
    2. Title, genre, wordcount
    3. Your polished first page (250 words) Don't stop in the middle of a sentence.
    4. Where you follow me
    5. Where you spread the word
That's it!

Judith will read all of the first pages and select one for a ten-page critique, which, if she finds the winner's entry intriguing enough, could extend into a full manuscript critique!

 Contest rules:
  1. You must be a follower of my blog and/or Twitter
  2. You must spread the word, via twitter, fb, blog post, whatever.
  3. Your manuscript must be complete.
  4. Contest is open to works of fiction only. Sorry guys, no non-fiction here.
  5. You do not have to participate in the critique portion of the contest, but why would you miss the opportunity to polish that baby until it shines before Judith reads it?

  57. Posting mine a little late. I hope that's OK. This is a great opportunity and I can't wait to read the other entries.

  58. So... yeah... see, my 250 words were actually posted on my blog but in a post. Because, see, I have the 1st chapter available on the blog under a little tabby thing. And I, um, completely forgot to do a post yesterday, because, well, it was Saturday, and that's a non-blogging day for me, because I do stuff with my family. At any rate, there is, now, a dedicated post up about the contest with the 250 (264) word excerpt. I'll catch as many other entries as I can.
    Thanks, again!
